Correspondence is primarily that of General Secretaries C. Thomas Spitz, Jr., George F. Harkins, and John R. Houck. A recurring correspondent is Robert E.A. Lee, Executive Director of the LCUSA Office of Communication and Interpretation. Topics of discussion include exhibits at the Meetings; proposed amendments to the LCUSA constitution and by-laws; agenda issues to be discussed at Meetings; minutes preparation and procedures; preparation and arrangements for presentations, speakers, dinners and other events at the Meeting; LCUSA staff report preparation; Meeting. The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church.
