Annual Meeting administrative files (1966-1987) contain correspondence, reports, study materials, and a handbook concerning preparation and follow-up activities associated with and related to Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA) Annual Meetings. Correspondence is primarily that of General Secretaries C. Thomas Spitz, Jr., George F. Harkins, and John R. Houck. A recurring correspondent is Robert E.A. Lee, Executive Director of the LCUSA Office of Communication and Interpretation. Topics of discussion include exhibits at the Meetings; proposed amendments to the LCUSA constitution and by-laws; agenda issues to be discussed at Meetings; minutes preparation and procedures; preparation and arrangements for presentations, speakers, dinners and other events at the Meeting; LCUSA staff report preparation; Meeting. The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Representatives from each of the constitutent churches formed the Joint Union Committee in 1950 to effect the merger. Presidents of the constituent bodies at the merger were Henry F.
